Peterborough, ON – A market lamb sale has been added as a feature at the Ram Rodeo Tour happening at the Peterborough Ex on Friday August 9th.

The annual event has included a steer auction where bidders can bid on prize winning cattle. The addition of the market lamb sale is building on the success and showcasing junior farmers who are part of the 4H program.

Organizer Victoria McEldon states, “Being featured in the big ring alongside the rodeo is a great opportunity for young farmers to show and market their animals and create stronger ties to the agricultural community.”

4H offers youth-centred programs that provide meaningful, positive experiences designed to build confidence, positive self-identity, self-esteem and a sense of achievement. Sponsors of the market lamb sale are Chemong Home Hardware and Building Centre, Cavan Agri Services, Squirrel Creek Farm and Sunderland Co-Op.

There will be four lambs auctioned off for meat as well as six of steers. The animals will be judged and weighed for the sale earlier in the day. Anyone can bid on the animals and the successful bidders will need to make arrangements for butchering.
