Peterborough, ON – The Peterborough Agricultural Society will be holding an online exhibition this August. Shifting the event from Morrow Park to a virtual Ex was a result of much Board deliberation in light of the pandemic. The modified event will allow for exhibitors to still show their animals but through video and photos which are to be uploaded for judging.
Although the Board is disappointed that the regular event will not take place as planned, they are eager to continue to provide a platform for Ag Education and awareness.
President Victoria McEldon, “Although the pandemic has forced us to postpone the Ex as we know it, there is an increased interest in agriculture. People are once again looking at farming with great interest. We want to help foster and celebrate that.”
Not all events will be held this year and plans are still being finalized. Currently the poultry and open horse show will move forward as well as the Market Steer and Lamb Show and Sale. Other exhibits such as the Beef Show, Homecraft, Sheep, Commercial Horse and Goat shows will be featured through a series of ag education videos and online content as part of the virtual Ex event.
“We are excited about this new, reimagined event and look forward to a time when we can safely bring people together to celebrate our 175th Anniversary,” said McEldon.
Registration for the virtual exhibition will open later in the summer and producers are encouraged to check the PeterboroughEx.ca website for updates.
